INTRODUCING MAINE'S NEW RETIREMENT SAVINGS REQUIREMENT

Join the Harold Alfond Center on December 6th for INTRODUCING MAINE'S NEW RETIREMENT SAVINGS REQUIREMENT

Are you a business with five or more employees?  Learn more about the details and deadlines for employers under the Maine Retirement Savings Program legislation.

We'll be joined by Dana Connors, past president of the Maine State Chamber, Elizabeth Bordowitz, executive director for Maine Retirement Investment Trust, and Nate Moody, retirement plan advisor and partner at Lebel & Harriman and the vice president of the Maine Employee Benefits Council, to learn about program options and what small employers must do to comply by 2024.

Did you know that almost half of Maine's private sector employees lack access to an employer-sponsored retirement savings program? Recognizing the need for financial security in retirement, Governor Mills has taken action by signing a bill to advance the Maine Retirement Savings Program. This program aims to extend retirement savings opportunities to around 200,000 Mainers.

But what does this mean for businesses in Maine? Starting in April, employers with five or more employees will be required to offer a qualified retirement savings plan. To make compliance easier, the Maine Legislature has established MERIT, a free and straightforward solution for employers to meet this new workplace savings requirement.

We invite you to join us on December 6th for an insightful discussion about the program's launch, featuring Elizabeth Bordowitz and Nate Moody.  Discover how these changes could impact your business and employees.

Every month, the Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine's Workforce hosts a webinar to equip local businesses and organizations with tools needed to attract and retain talent, support employees' success in their professional journeys, and access resources to make your endeavors even more successful.

This series is called BUSINESS BLUEPRINT: Workforce Strategies in Maine's Evolving Economy, and we'll explore a diverse range of topics that significantly impact employers in Maine, featuring subject matter experts who will share their valuable insights.  Our goal is to give you key takeaways, opportunities, and resources that may be valuable to your organization.

Webinars are open to the public and offered at no cost.  Just reserve your spot below to join the conversation.
